The Gaula in central Norway is one of Scandinavia's premier Atlantic salmon rivers — a powerful, boulder-strewn freestone system flowing through the Trøndelag farming valleys to Trondheim Fjord. Its salmon average 10-15 lbs with occasional fish to 30 lbs and beyond. The beat system means different pools each half-day, and the midnight sun creates a surreal fishing environment where you can cast to rising fish at 2am under a golden sky.
The Gaula's midnight sun period in June and July allows around-the-clock fishing — anglers regularly take large salmon in flat golden light at 1am while owls hunt the bankside fields.

Technique
